1. Does it sort out hard kernels from popped ones so that there are zero food hazards mixed in with the air-popped corn?
2. What is the percentage of leftover unpopped kernels to kernels popped?
Average 7%. It depends on the seed's quality and moisture. If the seeds are well-calibrated and moisture is between 13-14,5% then leftover will be about 7%. With low-quality seeds, it will be more. I had a customer from Detroit, MI who hot a high rate of leftover and ofter chamber clogging. When I visited her factory, I check the seeds and show her the amount of damaged/broken seeds as well as the wrong size seeds.
Also, there is moisture - about 14% in raw material and about 2% in ready-made products. So, total weight reduction will be about 20%. Which is ok - wet poppers have the same rate
3. Average cost of the machine?
The Robopop75 costs 12995$
This machine can make plaint hot air popcorn, so you can use it for the next stage of the process (caramelization). It is fully automated, user friendly, it makes a sort of unpopped kernels. Here is some feedback from a customer who uses it right now in Fort Worth, TX
We also have bigger size machines for 16995-26995$
We are also interested in one of the SugarLips caramel coating machines.
1. Is it possible to do a test run on one before we buy?
Currently, we are out of stock with any type of SugarLips. Which Equipment for caramelization you are using right now?
I will have some Robosugar20 in the test area inside my showroom. The kettle is the same, so we can check this machine (the difference is the conveyor)
Where are you located? Are you considering visiting our showroom? It is common practice, I got 2-3 customers every month making some test drives in our warehouse in Jacksonville FL
2. We need a mechanism whereby we can use our caramel as it is made very specifically. Is that possible?
It is usually a matter of settings. We can adjust some parameters, such as temperature, and time. Also, some colorant is temperature-sensitive - sometimes it is required to add them at the end of the process. I got that experience - our customer from Cleveland got a very special recipe, so we tested it with our caramelize (it works with his recipe)
3. We also do not cool right away after coating. We do have many more steps so we only need a machine that coats the corn so we can immediately start the rest of the process. Do you have one that only coats?
This is a SugarLips machine. After you cook the caramel mix and coat the popcorn, you can dump it on a cooling table and then make the next steps of your process
We also can adjust the speed of our conveyor at Robosugar, so it can work with your steps. I must call you for details
4. Which coating machine would you recommend?
Right now I think we need to set up a skype phone call. Because it is quite complicated to recommend thought the email.
